Dr. Carter was born in Valdosta, GA and spent her formative years with her sister and parents in beautiful, rural VA on a large farm with horses and other animals. The idyllic surroundings encouraged a natural interest and love for animals. Early influence from her parents with a focus on reading and making good grades paved the way for her later success in college and veterinary school. Eventually the family of four moved to her parents’ native Miami, Florida, where she earned a BS in Biology and began post-graduate studies in comparative immunology research before transferring to UF in Gainesville. In 2001 she graduated from UFCVM, with studies focused on small animal medicine and surgery. After graduation she worked in a busy 24-hour hospital, where a love for emergency medicine began and continues to be part of her professional life. Other professional interests include high volume spay-neuter/shelter work, soft tissue surgery and dentistry. She is an avid equestrian, loves gardening, vegetarian cooking and international travel. Her latest favorite destination: India.
